AbstractThe energy levels, spontaneous radiative decay rates, and electron impact collision strengths are calculated for Ni-like tantalum ions. The data refer to 107 fine-structure levels belonging to the configurations (1s(2)2s(2)2p(6))3s(2)3p(6)3d(10), 3s(2)3p(6)3d(9)4l, 3s(2)3p(5)3d(10) 4l, and 3s3p(6)3d(10)4l (l= s,p, d, f). The collision strengths are calculated for the six electron energies: E' = 0.002, 0.01, 0.03, 0.07, 0.15, and 0.28 in units of Z(eff)(2) Rydbergs with Z(eff) = 50.5 by using the distorted-wave approximation. The calculations are compared with other theoretical results in the literature and good agreement is found. © 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
